Our Services

Single Session

This service is designed for families seeking expert guidance on how to support a young person experiencing motor and/or vocal tics. During this 50-55 minute session, we aim to provide you with a clearer understanding of tics and offer practical strategies to help your child manage these challenges.

Before the session, we will send out a set of questionnaires to gather background information, ensuring that our time together is focused on your specific concerns. During the session, we will begin by discussing your goals, clarifying key areas where you’d like support, and answering any questions you may have. This is an interactive session, allowing for open discussion and personalized advice tailored to your child’s needs.

At the end of the session, we will provide a brief written summary, outlining the key takeaways and recommendations. This summary will serve as a reference for your ongoing efforts to support your child.

Comprehensive Intervention

$For those looking to actively reduce tics, Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach designed to help individuals manage and decrease the frequency and severity of their tics. Backed by extensive research, CBIT has been shown to be highly effective in both children and adults with Tourette’s and tic disorders.

CBIT involves a structured treatment plan that typically spans six to twelve sessions, depending on the severity of the tics. The process begins with an initial 50-minute session, priced at $350, where we gather background information, assess the tics, and set treatment goals. Each subsequent 50-minute session costs $289. For mild cases, six sessions are often sufficient, while more severe cases may require twelve sessions or more (as outlined by treatment guidelines).

During CBIT sessions, individuals learn to become more aware of their tics and how to implement competing responses (‘tic blockers’) or alternative behaviours that are incompatible with the tics. The therapy often includes relaxation techniques and lifestyle adjustments to reduce stress, which can exacerbate tics. CBIT does not involve medication, making it a favourable option for those seeking a non-pharmacological approach. It is also much more practical than typical psychological therapy.

With a strong evidence base demonstrating its effectiveness, CBIT is recognised as a first-line treatment for tic disorders by major health organisations, including the Tourette Association of America.

Assessment and advice

This service is designed for families or individuals seeking a comprehensive assessment of tics and personalized advice on how to best manage them. Over the course of two 50-minute sessions, we will work together to evaluate the tics, explore any associated issues, and provide targeted guidance.

Before the first session, we will send out pre-session questionnaires to collect background information, which will help ensure that our time together is focused on your specific concerns. The first session will involve a brief assessment of the tics and associated factors, a discussion of your goals, and an introduction to strategies that can help manage them.

The second session will build upon the initial consultation, offering more personalized advice on the best way forward, and providing an opportunity for a Q&A to address any lingering concerns. If desired, a written summary of the sessions can be provided for an additional fee.
